This project is an Afrofantastical adaptation of the Norse hero myth of Sigurd in the form of a picture book for children ages 11-13.
In my adaptation, most of the characters are Black, and Sigurd, the hero, is female. Leading to an Afrofantasy take to introduce this tale to a more diverse group of readers. Emphasizing the various characters through memorable designs and costumes, still designing under the fantasy umbrella but not being limited by medieval aesthetics. Dipping into contemporary aesthetics, at times, to further create recognition and relatability.
